Our classrooms are small, thus students get individualised attention. Once our students are consistently attending class they will see an improvement over time at their studies.

CEI holds prize-giving ceremony

The Central Educational Institute (CEI) recently held its vacation class prizegiving ceremony at the school’s compound located at Lendore Village, Montrose, Chaguanas. Established since 1999, this school offers full time and vacation classes to students from standard four at the primary level to form five at secondary level.
Principal and founder of the school, Wendy Nidhan, indicated that she was extremely pleased with the participation and enthusiasm shown by the students this year and extended best wishes to them for the start of the new school term. Nidhan said that the Central Educational Institute was founded initially to provide A’ level extra lessons to students in the area but over time the demand for tuition in other classes increased and today the school provides extra lessons for students from Standard four to Form six. In addition to providing lessons, the institution also provides part time and full time CSEC and CXC classes for adults and full time day school for Forms four and five. The principal said, “We are particularly proud of our adult day classes. Adult students tend to do very well as they are highly disciplined and self-motivated. Many have attained full CSEC/CXC certificates at CEI and moved on to professions such as nursing and teaching while some have attained their degrees in fields such as management, accounting, psychology and law.”

The principal indicated that at CEI the classes were small and did not exceed 25 students allowing for easier teaching and more enjoyable learning. The institute has a complement of 19 teachers all of whom are degree qualified and registered teachers. “Apart from being qualified, the teachers understand that they are there to help the students grasp the work,” the founder stated. She said some teachers have been with the school for more than ten years.
The motto of CEI is In knowledge there is Opportunity and Nidhan, who started the school after completing her law degree, said she chose that motto to invoke in the students a sense that they can achieve their goals and change their circumstances once they had the appropriate knowledge to take advantage of opportunities.

"Outstanding ! Not really like a school since everyone including your teachers are like your peers. They are very approachable. Initially I went to a another well known institute but it  did not suit me.Luv this one though. "
